There's a hell of a lot of vBulletin boards on that list.
There's a board with 895,000 members. 895,000 members makes me wonder if they've ever cleaned the deadwood out of their members list.
Doesn't that really put the hurt on the DB when people login?

I've seen that site before. At first glance it looks straight out of the box, but I see a couple of changes . |

Why do you think PHP is so much more popular than ASP? I've never messed with any PHP, but I didn't think it was better |

simple, because of $$$ you can run a PHP based board on a free operating system and free application server or find a host that offers this extremely cheap.
it has also been around a lot longer, so there are a lot of die-hards. |

hmm. Yes, I suppose so.
And I'm sure the fact that Big Boards is itself PHP based had no bearing. Afterall, PHP folks would know of ASP based boards as much as it would know of PHP based boards. Nah. I'm just getting defensive we're so low on the list But we're on the list |

Same comment as earlier today by someone else - if you've never played with it how can you comment ? All the *nix, C, open source guys will obviously prefer PHP.
And the rest dayve has said

I can comment because I can type What I mean is that I have never read that PHP is all so powerful that all others will be crushed under its mighty presence; Let no other present itself or it will be torn asunder by it's mighty wrath. Which is what some of those stats suggest. It might me a good scripting language, but not for forums. However, in the world of forums, it's definitaely leading all others.
I think dayve hit it on the money. |
