New sound card

Looking for some advice before I call tech support. Previously I had only the sound ability the system came with. I installed Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy LS Audio Card. Should it have been this simple? All I get is static from the new Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System. I can faintly here the windows sounds through the static.

try placing it in a different slot, if it still behaves the same it could be a duff card

Check your output settings too, you may have digital output enabled when you really want Analogue or vice versa.

I almost have this working now. I took your suggestion Huw and moved it to another slot and it partially works. It's a six speaker system. Only three are working right now, but that's a lot closer than it was! I didn't have time to finish last night, hopefully I finish it this weekend.
