Can anyone recommend a reliable alternative to PayPal? After signing up for an account and playing around with it a bit, I discovered that there is no way of transfering funds to my bank account here in Ireland. I need to be able to accept donations as well as payments for subscriptions, merchandise, etc.. BitPass, which Ken discussed, would be a perfect solution but they do not support classic ASP yet.

Thanks, Dave, will give them a look.
<edit> At first glance, it looks like they're UK only </edit>

www.2checkout.com not free like Paypal but you can get a US Cheque account and an ATM card from them to get your money (though theres pleanty of fees and hidden charges).
I would take those "paypalsucks" sites with a grain of salt, I've been using them for quite some time now and know quite a number of people who also do and they've never experience a single problem.
They're probably a lot bigger and better than some of the alternatives being offered on those pages anyway ! :) |

Thanks for the recommendations, guys. I had a look at some of the services on the sites you posted, OWM but none of them seemed to offer the same level of service as PayPal. I'll have a look at 2checkout, Gremlin, specifically at the (hidden) costs, etc..
After some Googling I came across this article so I'm going to wait and see if they add the ability to transfer funds to Irish accounts; I've sent them an e-mail asking if they will be but you'd have to imagine they would.

Im sure they will eventually, they didn't initially have withdrawls to NZ accounts but it was added a year or so back. |

I've used an escrow service before at http://www.escrow.com but there are not many people that like using a service like this. It is better for some of those high dollar transactions though. |

There was quite a few scam escrow services shut down last year, I remember seeing a Tech TV program on cybercrime that had a big thing on them, like anything always do your research before using anything I guess. |

For any other Irish members here who may be wondering the same thing I was, I just got the following response from PayPal:quote: ... We hope to be expanding our bank transfer capabilities to include more countries, but due to the complexities of global finance, we cannot give a timetable for this expansion. ...
As I said, if they're going to be setting up their European HQ in Dublin, you'd have to imagine that adding this capability for Irish users is up near the top of their "to do" list. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see, in the meantime I'll just have to open a bank account up north.

I would speculate that the recent EU VAT Tax law changes may have encouraged them to setup a European HQ. |

But I don't know anything about them, just that they do the same type service as PayPal. |
