This is defenately a topic to file under "all other subjects"

I was just wondering if anyone here has any piercings and/or tattoos. Of course it'd also be nice to know where they are, unless that would mean giving TMI

Reason I'm asking is because I might get a piercing in my Friday afternoon, and maybe a tattoo later this year. So I'm kinda wondering what your experiences are with tattoos and piercings.

personally i don't like them unless they are discreet and tasteful(tatoos) and body piercings just don't make much sense to me. ears and maybe navel for women, but other body parts just seem creepy to me. (no offense, just my conservatism showing.)

I agree that tattoos should be discreet and tasteful (I've seen some rather nasty ones during my searches). Piercings are okay IMO, unless they're put in the face (nose, lips, eyebrows) or stretch things (ear lobes for example). Just as long as nobody brings up scarification it's all fine by me

The reason I picked a tongue piercing is a bit double... firstly because it's not too obvious, and secondly because it's supposed to feel good during certain activities. I was told to get my ear(s) done, but I've never liked the look of guys/men with ear rings so that was a definite no-no.

If you do go for a tattoo, you have to remember that it's something you'll live with for the rest of your life.

Personally, I've never had a piercing/tattoo because I like to be different.

But hey, if it floats your boat... go for it!

Yeah I'm with Nikkol never been a fan of tat's or piercing, small discreet and tastefull is ok, but don't like the look of things like nose-rings etc. Each to their own though.

Not so much now a days really, the laser removal of them does seem to work pretty well, a friend of mine had one removed and you really couldn't tell after a few months that there had ever been a tattoo there.

^^^ but I think that is extremely expensive. like a couple/few thousand. I could be wrong.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo lately. I spent 11 years in the Navy and never got a single one. I am one of the very few that has spent that much time in the Navy without going through with it. The main reason is because I feel the same way, you're gonna have it "basically" on a forever basis so it has to be something you really want, planning ahead for when you're like 80 years old as well.

I think that tat's and piercings are fine (but maybe thats just cuz I'm 16 ). I have a black eagle with a green beret on it's head and a machine gun in its talons on my left shoulder blade. But like MarkJH said, whatever floats your boat

Have you seen what Tattoo's look like when your 80 :p just a blur of faded ink on flabby skin hehe.

Yeah the removal process is a lot more expensive than what it cost to put it on, but I guess its nice to know there is a way to remove them if you change your mind after a few years.

I'm also sure that technology will make this less expensive using better methods in the years to come.

We have a local tattoo place. Here's their advertising slogan:

Definitely not my thing. I don't like getting jabbed with needles even if it's for my health.

I got my first tattoo last December. It was a few days before my 29th birthday. I've been wanting one for a long time and finally did it. It's on my upper right arm and it's a tribal tattoo. I didn't really want a picture of something or a tattoo that symbolized anything... I just wanted a cool design. I'm really satisfied with the one I got. I would personally not get any piercings but I don't see anything wrong with it if you want to. I would just make sure it's tasteful for employment purposes. I got mine where it is so it can be hidden easily.
