XP Professional edition can run IIS (Internet Information Server) which can be installed from the Windows XP Pro Ed setup cd. This allows you to put files in the inetpub/wwwroot folder and run ASP if this is what you want. XP Home edition includes no such facility. URLs:
put your ASP files in the wwwroot directory (usually located at C:\inetpub\wwwroot\) and then access them by going to http://localhost/filename.asp in your browser, where filename.asp is the name (possibly including directory) of the file you want to see.
Possibly a silly question, but is there any other server software that can be used on XP Home? I don't need much, just something that will allow me to test my ASP pages on my laptop (even something that limits to 1 user is fine).
i'm using access and no- i didn't convert my my database. i think it somthing with the MDB file and the combination with IIS. i have guestbook also with MDB database and i've got the same problem.
