I may have the potential to attract some retail advertisers to my new forum if all works out as it looks like it might. If this comes to pass how much does one charge for advertising on their forum? I assume there are variables such as what level of traffic a forum can maintain but have no idea what kinds of numbers are considered a general range $ wise. For those of you with commercial forums that accept advertising may I ask how much you charge for banner ads in ballpark numbers.

All my banners I charge normally $AUS220.00 per year to link directly to the advertisers page and if I supply a page (single page) on my server $440.00 per year. I find it works for me and I only get about 350 users a day.

I try to get $20 per month with 37,000 banners being displayed per day. I just use a plain ole pay per month, not pay per click, nor pay per impression. It is much easier for me to say $20 and it will be rotated on every page for a month.
I have a couple advertisers who want to be an exclusive advertiser for a specific product; I charge them more. Around $40 a month, but I give them two banners.
I have no idea if that is cheap, average, or high; it is just a random number I chose and it seems to do OK. |

I have no advertising on my site. But I did note one non-Snitz forum which offered the following: - Rotated banner shown when previewing a post and after posting... $50 per month. The site says in a typical month, each banner gets viewed around 50,000 times.
- Static ad placed on a page... priced at $125 per month which includes a banner in the above rotation program.
With nearly 30 sponsors, I calculate the site generating around $18,000 per year. My site is different from the one I'm talking about, but I have to admit I'm envious (especially since I think Snitz offers much better features than the site I'm citing).
Anyway, much of it depends on what kind of forum you run, that is, the subject matter and the type of visitors and sponsors your site draws. Seek out guidelines but each market pays whatever the market can bear. Good luck. |
