The RTE that was made for 3.3.xx was never updated for 3.4 because of security...

But I'm 90% done with a RTE MOD that will allow ALL members to edit/post in RTE format, best of all, HTML can be left off, only the Forum Code is required to use this.

Anyone interested?

When you say RTE do you mean like the on Hotmail use for sending emails ?

I'd be interested in using that..

RTE = Rich Text Editor

Yes, I'd be very interested.

I hope it's compatible with the post.asp mods

Yes, yes, yessssss!!! This sounds great to me! Some questions:

  • Same as Nathan: Will it work with Netscape?

  • Compatable with New Events Calendar? Mikes File Attachment?

  • It creates HTML, then converts to forum code, right? Any potential security risks?

Thanks SOO much for doing this. I'd love to help test. Thanks!

The Impact:
It's like Editing posts with MS-Word, where when you (for example) insert an image, or use bold tags, you SEE the word bold, your post will look exactly like what the post form looks like!

Jay_v:
Post.asp MODS, Like Smile Manager Plus, and Call-outs? Yes.

Nathan:
Not currently, but the code that I'm basing this on has an Alpha version that will run on Mozilla 1.3+ and IE5.5+.

homeacademy:
Netscape, maybe, maybe not, I'm not sure at this point.
Compatible with Events calender and Mike's, Yeah.

Security risks, what it does it use HTML within itself, then on submit it converts it all to Forum Code.
I can't currently see any security risks but . . . can someone E-Mail me and tell me how you go about hacking into a forum with HTML? If I know, I can test it for security.
Anyway, this could be a little while because I need to figure out:
A) How to change the size of the textarea when you change the screensize drop-down on post.asp.
B) How to switch between modes RTE and Basic.

WEll, you will never see the HTML, but it displays it by converting the Forum Code to HTML, then converting it back...
