Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but I think we should add in a little function that shortens the display of a url.
Example: http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/gamecenter/live/NHL_20030521_OTT@NJ becomes: http://www.sportsline.com/...OTT@NJ but still links the same
I've seen a couple of other forums do this and I think it's great. No breaking tables and scrolling.
I figure this is something that would be a nice little tweak for the next version. |

I've thought about doing this also. Only the displayed URL would be shortened. If you right click on the link and choose "Copy Shortcut", it would still copy the whole URL. |

Yes, perhaps I should have been clearer. I am only referring to display. Even on a high resolution and 100% width, you still get some urls that seem to bust the screen. I'm only talking about shortening for neatness as I think it would help the look of future Snitzes. |

Yes, I agree and in fact started doing that on one of my forum pages:
http://www.burningsoulsforum.com/about.asp
scroll down and look at nincollector and sanctified's urls. I've been wanting to create a function to do it to the rest of my long links. phpBB and IkonBoard do this as well and like Richard said, you can right click on a link and select "copy shortcut". |

I noticed it on a newish (I think beta) version of vbulletin. Pretty simple to do, and I think it's just a nice touch.
Another thing I really liked is besides a right arrow to go to last post of a topic, there's also a down arrow to take you to the first new post since your last visit. Another thing I think we could implement semi-easily here that would be a nice convenience to some.
Just want to be clear I'm not requesting "mods", but just making suggestions on what I think would be little code to add, but a nice little feature in a future version. If you guys don't agree, no problem, just trying to think out loud |

very nice touch... could be tweakable to disable if it's not wanted too. |

This one is really cool. I never use the last post shortcut because I usually have then scroll and its a pain in the butt. But thos would be uber cool! |

I hope this sparks more interest in this feature than it did last September when I brought it up. |
