Hi AnonJr, You are correct about Image's Intl version of 3.406 - seems that I didn't look at each file carefully. I was not implied to critique or raise the problem issues with what Image is doing. V4b03 which I was bit more familiar with and his current intl version appears to be both implemented in separating the source codes and the character string/text (as a language resource file). I noticed however that there is a significant difference in organizing this between the two: V4b was handling all language test strings in a single language pack file while Image's processes an individual language file associated with each code page for rendering language specific contents.
Am not familiar with UTF8 encoding handling implemented by Image's group.
I would imagine that Image's version will serve people who are interested in having a locale language version Snitz forum.< |

Don't worry, I didn't take your earlier comment to be a critique. I just wanted to make sure that I had a clear understanding of what you wanted and that you had a clear understanding of what Image is offering.
As to the UTF-8 support, I don't know if Image has already built it in or not. I would imagine so, but only he can answer that question. If he didn't, I know MarcelG had posted some steps to enable UTF-8 Support.
I stand by my recommendation to use Image's forum over the last public beta of v4 since (to the best of my understanding) it has been kept more up to date. If I'm wrong on this I hope somebody will set the record straight. < |

Spending time in looking at V3406, V4b03 and Image's V3406 V2 International....
Am getting a better understanding. Image's Int V2 3406 incorporate V4b03 language handling procedures (further modified) in config.asp. Rather than having a single lang file - such as Lang1033 etc which contains all text strings for all files by strLang_filename_xxxxxx convention he has it per file with different language string name conventions, including empty ones and stored it in Language folder vs. Forum folder where all codes reside. Assume this may enhance performance factor as one of the issues I understand with V4b03 was the issue of performance...
Anyway, this makes it necessary for re-learning and catching up on my part... More time to spend to compare files and check to see how my previous Moded V4b03 multilingual Asian lang forum (UFT-8) can be made updated...without reinventing too much, esp with various lang packs I have. Fun stuff.
Thanks again for your feedback.

3406 Multilanguage V2 is organized differently from V4b03 (or currently released V4) where all image files (including language icons) are stored in Forum/Image and all page specific texts/text strings are stored in Forum/Language, and corresponding modifications and code additions are made to V4b03 internationalization/localization codes and incorporated into 3406 core.
I noticed a topic that V4 or "an official" international version is somewhere in a horizon. 3406 Multilanguage V2 is considered as MOD as I can see but am wondering whether Dev Team will be considering repackaging codes and file structures as done in Multilanguage V2 for a future V4 or?????
Also, I noticed Multilanguage V2 currently support ISO-8851 group character sets (notably -1, and some -2 and -3 as a new language pack is being added)primarily. I don't believe it is implemented with Unicode handling at present, as I see some test posting in the forum rendering improperly for other language group in post content. Interestingly post title is rendering a locale language text.
There was some discussion of using Unicode as a base encoding scheme (or selectable Char-set/encoding scheme)for V4 to handle various country/international writing styles/texts sometime back besides some other important international features - such as date/time... so am curious.
