Bagman,
Have you made any other modifications since the Private Messages were working correctly? When I registered on your forum just now, I got an error with the DoCookies() function. Have you made any modifications to inc_functions.asp?

If you e-mail me your inc_top.asp file, I'll take a look at it. |

Thanks Eddie

Ok New bug. Didn't know if I should post it here or under Mod Implementation > Snitz Forum with Mods (Huw's) So I posted in both places.
Anyway, this is a Netscape Bug. Take a look at this image. This is how my Private Message displays the Members List in Netscape.
and this is how I.E. displays it (The correct way).
This is located in the pm_members.asp page, but I don't know how to fix it so it displays correctly in Netscape.
Anybody got any ideas? The icons are suppose to be right beside the name of the member like it shows in I.E.

Diana, Here you go: http://www16.brinkster.com/richardk/files/pmdbsetup.zip just download the file, unzip it and then upload pmdbsetup.asp to your /forum directory. Then just run it from the address bar of your browser like you did with the mod_dbsetup.asp file.
FYI -Richard
This was the Only way i could get this mod to work. Thanks

Hello, me again.
I saw on Rick's page (www.eastpasco.com) that a PM icon appears when reading the topic and replys above, where all the other little icon's appears. This is kind of nice, since the person can be PM'd directly from there. Is this included in this code, and if not, any ideas on how to implement this?
Thanks Eddie

Remove style="cursor: hand" from the PM message icon image code.
It's because Netscape is an inferior browser.
By the way I have made a lot of Hwur's mod work in Netscape so of you have any problems let me know.

Thanks ajy.
That's wierd. I thought Netscape ignored styles. I think that was my last bug for Netscape. That is until I add a few more mods. Once I do I'll be looking for you.

Richard ....
I am using your snitz V3.1 SR4 release modified and beefed up with lots of mods and I was wondering how can I remove the "Private Messages" part in default.asp
Everytime I try the tables go out of whack. Reason I was asking is because I downloaded this newer version of PM because I can use it as an <!--#INCLUDE FILE= so I would like to remove the old stuff in default.asp
What I did was modify the PM so if a user is not logged in, Private Messages does not show up at all.
If a user logs in and has no private messages, PM does not show up, but they still have a link in the menu to pm_view.asp incase they wish to send a PM to a member,
and lastly, if a member logs in and has new PM's, PM shows up and once the member reads his PM the link for it disappears. If the member is floating around the forum and someone sends him a PM, the PM link shows up in inc_top.asp indicating a new PM.
I thought I would try this because I seen alot of ppl making posts on whether or not you can hide the PM unless you have PM's, just to save on space in the main forum (it actually plays a sound to if you have a PM..... except in Netscape)
So, this is why I would like to remove the other instances of PM in default.asp
Any chance of that? If not, i'll poke around more see what I can do.
Thanks Intrepidone |

To remove the Private Messages all you need to do is change this code:
loop end if PrivateMessages %> <% if strShowStatistics = "1" then WriteStatistics end if %>
to this:
loop end if
if strShowStatistics = "1" then WriteStatistics end if %>

ajy. That fixed the problem with the icons showing correctly in Netscape, but I also found that when you click on the name it doesn't automatically add them to the "TO" box like it does in I.E. In fact clicking on the image or the names does nothing but sometimes crash Netscape.
Is there a fix for this so it works in Netscape like it does in I.E?
Thanks in advance.
