Also you got some syntax errors in some files.... For example, in file_lister.asp, you get the following error: Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0400'
Expected statement
/lynx626/forum/file_lister.asp, line 682
"on error goto 0" ^
those files that you had to add on error goto 0 before %> at the end of a file, you should not include " "it should be simply on error goto 0
Check other files that you modified for on error go next related Brinkster errors....and make sure that you don't have the same "" with on error goto 0
Other than that, I don't see any major or obvious problems with your new re-install.....
Good luck.

Glad to know that all is uprunning...but, not really good if you could not retain your existing members or migrate them/forums-topics to new SH environemtns.
Since you have now settled with a problem of installing/setting up a SH moded forum on Brinkster, you can probably look at db migration...???? and there should be some helping hands to help you to migrate your existing DB/members to a new db environment...???
I assume that there are people who adopted/mirgrated to SH V8 moded forum from standard Snitz forums with existing DB and members and must gone through a process of migrating data entities (category/forum/topics and members)...and assume that you can get some help from successful instance or examples of doing it...????

Well members and posts can be migrated, at the very least using SQL Server DTS. If you want it Faizan I can do that, as long as you have no problem emailing me both databases. Let me know if you want to do it. |

Thanks Leo and Rui, i have got half of my members back, and i've created same categories and forums, so i don't think that i need my old DB anymore, anyway...thanks a lot 4 offering me that much help! I'll stick with my new one, because we had some people who used to argu a lot, so we've got rid of them and my existing members like the fresh start now!
I loved the way u people explained everything! very detailed explainations!

Just to let everyone know, you can download the DBS files from SH's site for upgrading from a base snitz DB. |

They seem to provide good support. Faizan has dealt with this for quite a while and nobody told him to do that. He was told to ask for help here. Even though I told him from the beginning the problem was with the dbs files, the download does not included them and it seems they are not as easy to find there, since people who give support at his site don't seem to know about them.
You just need to be careful about your own mod choices... |
