Every now and then I go to my homepage:
http://www.testmagic.com
and the browser asks me if I want to download the page (as if it were a file). I reload the page several times, and the same thing happens. Then, after a few minutes, all goes back to normal. This has happened a couple of times over the months.
Yes, I know what this means if it's an ASP page, but this page is not, and anyway, ASP is working fine on my forum. |

Okay, good to see that it hasn't happened to other people before. It happened again today for a few minutes. Thanks for the tip, Rui and for the props, Nikkol. |

I see what you mean. When I load the page, I get this explosion of wierd text. It looks like the foul language text that the comics use. I've tried changing the encoding used to display the page, but nothing happens.

Somebody actually sent me a screenshot of that, but I'd never seen it or heard it confirmed from somebody else. From the screenshot, it was random text, not at all related to the HTML on the page. Weird. I still have the screenshot he sent me on another computer; I can link to it later. Ken, did this happen more than once? And what browswer were you using? |

Usually when I get prompted to save a file instead of opening it, it's a proxy issue. Are you running a proxy, or firewall perhaps? |

Yes, I use NIS, and the basic firewall that comes with the routers I use. Think that could be it? But it's only happened on my own website, never any other website. And sometimes, it only happens on that page, not, for example, on my forum/default.asp page. |

It happened when I first visited your site. The site seems to be working fine now.
I'm using IE 5.0 Japanese on Win 2k Japanese. It might be the browser, but I couldn't tell you for certain. With IE 5 Japanese, I seem to get javascript errors that don't seem to appear on the non-japanese versions of IE.

Okay, I finally got this error while I was sitting next to the phone. I was able to get through to my host in time for them to see it. I've got a support request in to them. Will post back with an update. |
