I like forums. I think the p2p model is the best for getting information. So I often Google my questions with the search term "forum" included. And sometimes I include "Snitz" because, well, if for no other reason, I like the familiarity. So, what do I do when I find a Snitz forum that has violated the GPL license, even if only by a hair? I, for example, just found a site that had everything intact except that when you hovered over the link, it said only Powered By:, meaning they'd change the stuff they're not supposed to.

Now, my question as an upstanding Snitzer is this--do I notify the developers? Or is it too small a thing to bother them with? I really don't know. I do know that I do find my content "stolen" on the Internet, and sometimes I ignore it, sometimes I follow up--some things are too small to worry about. So, where do you draw the line?

earlier versions of the forum that used MySQL as the database had a bug in them where the version wasn't inserted into the database, so when you hovered over the powered by logo, you would just see "Powered By:".

Okay, Richard, I understand that one, but my question is essentially: What is too little? What would be an annoyance? I don't mean to be a PITA (no benefit to me, really), but since I believe in the concept of giving credit where credit is due, and since I understand what it means to be bombarded with meaningless/RTFM emails every day, I just want to know where you guys stand--what is your email load, at what point should we email you, etc.

Is this a "use your best judgement" thing, or a "all violators will be hunted down and converted" thing? That's all.

A lot of people steal my content, so I'm particularly anal about this. But I gueess assimilation is enough.
