just want to clarify something. I have both a paid account, and a free account with 121host. The free account I have had for over a year, the paid one for less than a year. When I got the paid account with 121host, it was right after rochenhost.com decided to no longer offer Windows Hosting. All e-mails that I have sent to 121host have always been answered in less than 24 hours, which I find acceptable for the hosting package I signed up for. I paid month by month, so I am not in the same boat as some of you, and won't pretend to be.
But, let me remind y'all. The reason the Hosting Forum was removed from this site was because people were using it as a means to converse with certain hosts when they should be doing so via e-mail. We will not tolerate argumentative or derogatory posts concerning hosting providers. If you have a grievance with your Hosting Provider, please do so via the means provided by that Hosting Provider. |

121 thank you for getting back to me and updating me on why you have stopped windows hosting. Posting it on here was a good idea as it did seem that you did not want to answer any of my emails that I sent you asking why my web site was down (untill now) A email would have been nice from you to explain the difficulties that you where faceing it might have even help me to sympathie with you with your predicament that you where in. But just to stop the hosting and then just to hide behind email and contract number that is not even releated to your company is not how to run a business. But your company must be doing fine if you can just dump $30.000 worth of business (min)and deal with 498 users who are as mad as Hell with you, that will never again speak highly of you I know quite a few users I have met I have pointed at this site but they cant view there high opinion of you becuase of the removeal of the registration which I think is quite good becuase you would realy get flamed. I must say the last few months have been beter than last 12 that I have spent with you and I have 213 email to prove that dating back to the first ever email I sent you. It covers all the up's and downs that we have had from you from being compromised to the lack of backups that your performed to bandwidth issues to funny problems with PHP and ASP applications to issues with your email components and SMTP servers. But as you say you pay for what you get but for a company that claims 99.9 then I would love to read your TOS on what you claimed that you could have provided being able to provide that service need to have some sort of fault torrents disaster recovery backup system that should kick in if the first system fails My company is able to give 99.99.7 thats only 20 unscheduled minutes down time per year. I would have to look in to what 99.9 uptime would be but I can say that I have been with access to my site before for about 4 days so that would have killed your TOS. I know I was going to host another 25 other domains with you for my company I as so glad that I did as all these sites have over unique hits per day and if there had been down as much as my website had been then I would have been looking for a Job as webdown time is costly in my business. I think the main reason why the Hosting Forum was removed from this site was becuase of all the support related and complaints that people had with your company through lack of support and service some times the only way to get any thing done is to go public eg to name and shame and this topic proves that ! I want to now thank every one who has helped me in to getting this point and I want to thank 121 for hosting me over the last year it has been a experience and some thing to learn from. I hope 121 now you will refund me the rest of my years hosting from Novemeber and give me access to my domain to move it from your name in to mine. I have found other providers that can match the prices of 121 and look like they can give better support than 121 did (can't be hard) S I will be moving ASAP.
Any way I am sure we all can learn from what I have found do as much reseach as you can with the company that you host with find out as much details as possible ask them how they can support 99.9 uptime (as alot of sites just put that up there with out being able to back it up or know what it means) get a copy of there TOS and remember you pay for what you get but dont worry there are lots of hosts out there just take the time to check them out be carefull when getting in to long contracts make sure you read all the small print.
I will update you when my site is backup and running lets hope it does not take all year to get the refund and the domain name changed.

The Hardwares that different that the same people cant do both ?, software support perhaps, but Hardware support is rather independant of the Operating System.

SimonT your domain was up over 48 hours. As to your domain name it will take time as I have no idea how to transfer a UK domain but if anyone knows how to let me know. You will receive refund into your credit card within the next 2-4 weeks. |

The 2 major problems we had over 2 years was related to hardware and no one can guarantee that ...... but if you have a provider who can replace hardware within 2-4 hours then you are in business otherwise get out.................! |

We are just lucky I guess becuase the services we supply have no 1 point of failure and are backed up by 99.997 % Availability so we dont have to commit to any thing like that must times its 9 hour on site but after being here for 6 years I have never had to go out on site for a hardware failure that has stopped a production system. There system support over 20000+ users with over near over a billion messages sent a year. but as we have said you get what you pay for :-) 121 I will look in to it I have rasied as support call with easyspace as it looks like the domain was setup with them. |

I think the problem gremlin is 121 provider, not 121 changing hardware themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 121 a reseller, not an actual provider? |

If they were a resller then the hardware would not be their responsibility anyway, thats something that the provider would be contracted to provide. I could accept 121host saying that due to our Provider not giving us satisfactory support for our windows boxes we have decided to stop selling windows accounts, but thats not the way I read it.
Though again, maintaining a server irrespective of the operating installed on it, is something that any person that calls himself a Computer Engineer or Technician should be able to cope with. |

As Richard said but apparently wasn't loud enough, discussions of this nature are better done through the hosts support forum, so I'm locking this now.
