I use this product heavily at work to monitor internet activity, network traffic, yada, yada, yada. Anyway, I can't afford to pay for and use this at home plus I don't need all the features that come with it.
Anyway, browsing the net prompted me to ask, what products (free or low cost) would someone recommend to monitor network traffic (bandwidth, requests, packet loss, etc) for a home user with less than 10 nodes? I've found some that look promising, but if there is something that anyone is using here that has proven successful for them, I'd be very interested. |

okay, so I take it thats a big NO.
well then how about this component of SolarWinds. I like to monitor connection on my LAN and WAN with this nifty little tool called WatchIT which is also part of the SolarWinds Engineering Edition. Its a cool docker that slides out when you move your mouse over it to show the connectins being watched and give quick access to other utilities. I'm really just interested in the LAN/WAN monitor. Anything out there free and similar to this?

I do most of my monitoring from one of my Linux machines, lots of free tools/scripts available. Only ones I've used for Windows are high-end (read very expensive) ones. |
