I would just like to get your opionions on the popup I have added to only the front page, to get people to subscribe to our newsletter. I would like to know if it annoys you or not. It is currently set to display only once per browser session, but I can make it display 1/x page loads, IE every 5 imes the page is loaded, it only shows the ad once. I would really like to show it only once to each visitor every 72 hours, but my knowledge of cookies is non-existant.
Anyway, the URL for the test run it http://digismooth.meatsocks.com
Please give me your general opionions as to wether its not worth the load time/annoyance, or if infact you think it is a good idea. |
Cheers, WeeVaa.

Sorry to say, but I hate popups, even once per session. Why? Because I believe the browser is the visitor's, not the site's to control. So I hate popups, and even more I hate the javascript layers popups that stop me getting to whatever's underneath them!
Would be better if it 1) was dragable and 2) had a little windows-style [X] in the top rh corner to get rid of it imho ;-) |

At least it doesn't block the links and it doesn't "scroll" along when you scroll down, so even if I didn't want to close that screen it wouldn't bother me a whole lot since it blocks only a relatively small part of the page.
Maybe you've taken care of this, but what you might want to think about though is whether or not everyone gets to see that "pop-up", or if it's only shown to non-members, or only to those not subscribed to your mailing list. |

Well, guess I will have to promote my mailing list in some other form then aye . I will be taking it down now. Note there is a link at the bottom to close the popup. What do you think a better way to promote the mailing list would be, BTW? |
Cheers, WeeVaa.
