BTW, one of my members just asked me what means... I told him I wasn't sure, but that I thought it was related to the idiom "behind the 8 ball."
But since it seems I have the chance to ask the creator of the smilie, I should. |

HAHA :)
I um... don't realy know... it was an idea somone had... It was made and inserted...
More than anything I think it's kinda cool... though... I guess if you have an eight ball... you should probably have a cue ball! :) DOH |

LOL, that's a good story.
Just to be sure--it's okay for me to post your reply on my site, right? It's funny and an interesting part of Snitz history... I think the person who originally asked the question will like it... |

JoHnNyBaDaZ If it can't be broke I'll fix it so it can. If it can't be fixed, I'll break it 'til it works. |

Interesting... In portuguese we have an expression - "feito num 8" - made into an 8, which means someone was left in a high state of confusion, puzzlement or similar. So, funny enough, I used the smilie to convey that meaning. Never stopped to think if it made any sense in english, I just assumed it would be something similar . |

hehe ;) Yea... smilies are an amazing thing I guess when it comes down to it... I mean... they are so simple in how they look, but say so much in the end!
I'm still trying to get out of the habbit of just doing normal smilies :O
I've done them for so long it's hard to not do them now :) |

LoL, I learned the Snitz syntax first. Now I'm beginning to use the normal syntax in things like email and such... |

The Figure 8 was donated and put on my ball background... and the sad face was borrowed and some pixels moved.
Cool, smilies look great!

The forum code in its present state is the work of far too many people to mention, but was originally based on the ASPDev forum |

I know that, but wasn't ASPDev started by some person? Or was it a group of people that started it? |

What's cool is, a few years ago I had just gone through Aspin looking for a good forum and I found that ASP-DEV was closest to what I wanted. I was going to start working on that...raw download
But some friends kept bugging me to try Snitz and I realized that someone had already done the work I was thinking about doing! Gotta love that.
Since then I have been a die hard Snitzer.

hehe :) awesome!
Yea... John Penfold actualy threw together the download you see on the ASPDev site in the corse of a week or so from what I hear... he just hashed it out... He was quite ingeniouse about it if you ask me.
As for bug fixes and features... the first modifications to Snitz Forums 2000 where based on the support group at John's forums... since John didn't make any modifications or bug fixes to his code, I spawned off and kept the work alive.
Today the code of Snitz Forums 2000 is a compilation of the work of hundreds of people and arround 9000 development hours (conservatively guessing there). Literaly every line and every character have been changed since, but we keep giving John the credit for the first run of the code :) |
