I was reading about this Barry Bonds guy the other day. Now I hate baseball so I don't follow it at all, but this Barry chap did seem a bit of a nasty guy according to the article.
They said all his team mates hate him and that he isolates himself from them as much as he can, not really good for a team game. They also said he chokes whenever his is in a big game, but I'm guessing a home run is quite good |

Yeah, Barry thinks rather highly of himself. Sort of strange how this year he states, "sure, test me for steriods. I don't use steriods." and hits 27 less homeruns than last year. grrr...ok, better head off to bed. |

I'm rooting against Barry Bonds as well. The Giants as a team aren't the most likable (although I do like Jason Schmidt, and think he's got great stuff too). Still rooting for the Angels though. The also beat the Yankees, so I'll root for them (as I'm a Yankees fan). That whole "at least we were beat by the champs" thing. Funny, I don't think the Angels will be close to as good next year, but I'll have to wait for that one (similar to the Mariners last year). |

The Anaheim Angels in the World Series. I never thought that I'd live to see the day that that would happen!

Why do an American team always win the World Series? And why is Miss Universe always human? |

Toronto won it in 1992. Yeah...Canada won something besides hockey...except 95% of the players on the team were either American or Latin American |

you might as well ask why hockey teams heavy in Russian/Canadians win the Stanley Cup. |

Do many non-North American teams play? Are there many European, African, and Asian teams? In the UK we never hear about the World Series, so was wondering if we even entered?
I know the World Cup (the footy) has teams from all over the world, but don't know anything about baseball. I don't think it's the same as the Stanley Cup question, as 'Stanley' doesn't imply contenders from all over the world! |

well, the 'World' Series takes place in America, very high percentage chance that it's going to be an American team in the Series, but those teams are made up of players from all over the world. The Series started in the early 1900's when America thought they were top dogs in everything...except ship building... , so that's probably why it's named the World Series. Name just stuck because it's been called that for so long. Sort of like Snitz Forums 2000 in 2002 |

No, it isn't a 'world' thing where there's a team from England, USA, Mexico, Columbia, Italy, etc. I don't think teams outside the western hemisphere would do very well. Although Asian countries DO produce many good ball players, but everyone eventually wants to play in the Major Leagues, which only has teams in North America. Sometimes I wish it were a true World Series. That way, my team would always win |
