Seriously, I think it would be good for baseball to have something like the World Cup. I think that's really the only time Americans watch futbol, footy, soccer...or whatever the naming convention the region in which you live uses. It's an Olympic sport now, so hopefully it starts to spread.
hmmm...just thought...the Little League World Series is a true World Series. It's usually Japan and America playing in the final series. I really think the next MLB team should be in Mexico City, though. |

In britain schools play a game a lot like baseball (probably it's ancestor) called 'rounders' - bet we could put together a half-decent team with those old skills :-)
Women are allowed to play, aren't they? At my school girls played rounders and hockey where the blokes played cricket and rugby |

Here in the U.S. girls play Softball (which isn't soft. I've been hit by one and there's nothing soft about it) Same basic idea, but some of the rules are a little different. I don't see any reason why women couldn't play Major League Baseball, though. |

I'd say the World Series wasn't a "World" Series when it started, but it's much closer to it now. The best players in the world play and compete in the MLB (with the pay, you'd be crazy to be good and not want to ).
pdrg - do you mean field hockey or ice hockey? Ice hockey is mostly a guy's thing here, field hockey was for the gals. |

World Series? Yeah! I want to see the North American pro teams kick the Japanese pro teams around. They play such conservative ball here. No fun to watch at all.

VF - we don't get a lot of ice here in the UK - certainly not enough for schools to start ice hockey teams, so the girls have to stand out in the cold in (at my school at least) navy gym skirts thwacking a ball around a pitch. That's when we didn't have the pitch for rugby - in the rain, snow, hail, sleet, whatever (rugby is a religion, not a sport, in Wales!)
All a long, long time ago . . . |

Game 6 was awesome, I am not an Angels fan (nor a Giants fan) but what a nice come-from-behind win they pulled off. |

I just read on the NY Times that the Angels won the series 4-3. That just blows my mind.
