Is there anyone that can make a 'personals' section? I'd like members to be able to upload photos and create a resume but don't have the first clue how to go about it.
It's the one addition I'd die for (well nearly!!).

You can use the Classifieds mod to do somthing like this...
Maybe if you edited that you could get somthing like you want. |

The hardest part is probably the search and matching but i think this would make a very, very useful MOD considering the popularity of personals. As they say, it's one of the best moneymaking types of website out there.

| I've had problems getting the classifieds to work, one has been taken off and I haven't a clue with the other, though it would be great if some bright spark could come up with a mod from scratch.......just wish I had half the talent that can be found round here. |

The thing to consider with personals is how you can search for your soul mate with specific criteria like age, physical attributes, interests, location etc. Without this functionality you are not going to get much interest since there are so many sites out there that do offer this. Sure, you can set yourself apart by offering your service for free but without filtering your members would have to do lots and lots of browsing.

| You are right @tomic and it would be lovely to have those features but I'm a muppet when it comes to scripting which is why I asked if anyone knew how to do it. I don't envisage a huge member base so this will do for now. If it does go beyond the scope then I'll have to look at something else. |

I have a feeling someone will get to this. The question is just when. I am really surprised that no one else has tried to do this. Like I said, I have been considering it for some time myself but there is so much piled up before me that I can't promise anything. But a Snitz style personal site would be really cool. It wouldn't take too much modification beyond the search page and the profiles.

One thing I would consider is not making a special section like classifieds. Personal ads should be more detailed and with many fields for searching like the profiles. So I would modify the profile and then make a search page to search just profiles.

Well, the truth is I have had this one on my mind for quite some time since it seems to be such a good fit with Snitz. I do have a serious amount of work piled up for the next couple months including a store I need to get open before the holidays. After that, if no one else has tackled this, I will be all over it.

I saw that one vorphalack but couldn't contact the author as paypal wasn't playing. I also looked at quite a lot of freebie ones but I'd still rather have a snitz integrated one as snitz do everything else so well.
I'm sure @tomic will do a great job when he gets round to it, or indeed someone else and I'd much rather wait for theirs than have second best. |
