well you could always take some of your older mods and convert them to be 3.4 compliant ;)

Or come up with a more interesting rating system say below the posts place a small guage to count posts made until next user level is reached and have it graphical.

newuser [******__________]LVL1 then when they reach level 1 LVL1 [**________] LVL2 etc. but that would kind of be disqualified since your request was for something not difficult.

I would upgrade my older mods.... but I'm too lazy to do that... I was gonna do that with my guestbook mod but I figured there is no point, I'm sure Huw has improved upon it in his forum, plus it would take longer to convert it to be 3.4 compliant than it did to write it in the first place... soon enough I'll end up writing new ones.

I just want to start off with something small, Im just at a loss for ideas.

The rating thing I dont think I can do quite yet, plus thats already been done, I'm looking for something fresh

How about a "Who's been online today?" mod? A display panel on default.asp that lists all the members who have logged in for that day.

so you're not interested in modifying an existing mod to add additional functionality?

Sir DaStimulator,

My member-base is quite interested on seeing who has logged on for the last 24-36 hours. I believe with a little work on the 'Members' list, we can make this appear in a separate dialog box when clicked from within Active Users.

What do you think?

Great idea (adding it to active users), it would be much less confusing than the still in progress ip log for admins too ...

How about a mod that would allow registered users to post anonymously while being logged in. They could choose to post anonymously when they either reply or start a new thread. Moderators and Admins would be able to see who posted. Any normal user would see ANONYMOUS but Moderators and Admins would see ANONYMOUS (Bookie). Or something like that.

There could be admin options that would turn this feature on for the board and possibly for each forum. Obviously, the send email, ICQ, AOL, view profile would be disabled when they post anonymously. Boy, this is getting a little more complicated the more I think about it. Just a thought.

Yikes, I just realized that you'd have to modify default.asp, pop_profile.asp, active.asp, and forum.asp just so it won't show the actual poster's user name. Nevermind. I'll think of something else.

How about a modified poll mod where the votes are given a score (from 1-10 or so). You could implement this for any type of reviews (movies, music, games, restaurants, whatever). The votes are averaged between 1 and 10. You wouldn't see that x number of people voted for 4 and x number voted for 7 but you would see 6.75/10 out of 85 votes, for example.

This could be implemented on a broad scale by allowing users to create their own polls in forums or on a smaller scale where only the Admin or Moderators can create the polls and they are shown on the default.asp page and displayed down below where the stats are. This last one would be rather simple because you'd only have to deal with the default and admin pages rather than forum, post, topic, etc.

What about making a smile manager with categories for both 3.3 and 3.4?

Here's one I'd like - DoraMoon accomplished this for 3.3, based on the improvements in 3.4; you could add this function to the 3.4 version:

In the "Edit Forum Properties" section, a administrator is able to set a default topic sorting method [i.e. by topic date, last post date, etc.] for each specific forum when setting up the forum's properties. The individual user can override this default by using the topic sorting feature, if they so choose. I would love a "sort by topic date" choice! This allows topics to fall in sequence, as posted.

Another one - A MOD that adds a new, definable, user field[s] to a member's profile: ONE THAT SHOWS UP IN THAT USER'S POSTS! [ala an avatar, ranks & stars, etc. - the difference is that this one can be customized, by the administrator, according to that forum's needs.]

OK, the ultimate challenge MOD:

What about a MOD that allows moderators and administrators to MOVE a post from one topic to another ?
