What are you talking about it was in the instructions and in the very first post on page one!! One more thing you might want to change your tone. These guys spend tons of their free time at no charge to bring you and I this board.
DEPENDANCIES:

| These kind of complications just want to make you not release mods sometimes...thank you for your work @tomic and I hope the problems don't frustrate you or a few rude remarks from some people who don't know any better. yeah, I can see that, like I said, not very clear. In every other mod I've seen that pretty much means that those mods should be installed first because installing them after will cause problems for that mod. I was going by the bad readme file and throught the auther didn't know what he was talking about, bad english maybe.
I got it working, why couldn't you see that when I first posted the SQL string? Someone else had to point it out after I posted it a second time. Sorry for sounding really bad about all this but it's just not clear and I'll be glad to help you out with really getting this off the ground if you'll welcome it. Thank you all for your support and thanks again for helping to support other people when I can't. All the Snitz members that pitch in when they can are what make this community so great.
I'm sorry it took so long Aquillar but please try to be more understanding. Support for these MODs is the hardest part. I have a lot out there and tons of projects running simultaneously. I miss a lot and have trouble answering email sometimes. But I am glad you finally got it running right and I hope it serves you well.

The procedure WritePostingDetails() takes one parameter. So you can't pass zero parameters.
I would assume that it should be the topic ID because the procedure is declared
as "Sub WritePostingDetails(T_Topic_ID)". So common sense says let's try
"WritePostingDetails(T_Topic_ID)". And Voila at least in my case it works.
If you look at all the other calls to this procedure you will see that the function is always
called with t_topic_id.
As I understand it, this Mod is still beta, so helping the author is the way to go. Not shouting
"This is not documented", "I through it from my server" Like I said in my last post, I like the mod,
and I have big plans using it in my forum.

I wrote also some extensions for Snitz Forum, but I will not publish them.
(Some examples are "full html support for postings like buttons for bold, italic e.t.c" ,
"convert a Thread to RTF" , "Publish a Classified in a Forum" e.t.c)
Not that I do not believe in open source. No, I am afraid of people like you, who demand, demand, but are not able to read the installation instructions. And I would have to write bullet proved documentation, which I can't. I am not native English speaker. I had no problem understanding @tomic instructions, very clear for me (If you would like to display a thread in a context manager, including the avatar and the message Icon, you have to install them first, so that the database tables got the necessary fields, common sense or ????)

This is what they call an RTFM situation. If I stopped for every one of those I would get nowhere and the person with the problem will never learn. When in doubt, read it over, all of it, slowly. What I have been trying to accomplish with this MOD, ironically enough, is to make it even easier to use and with some new code that further extends the use of the forum.
But there are a lot of adjustments to make in order to end up with a look you want. These adjustments are the parameters. If one mode doesn't work, try another. There are so many combinations available here that I can't even begin to describe them all. So while the installation is super easy, most of the work involves choosing the style you want. If the one thing you want bad has a bug report it here but until it's fixed make a mental note of it and move on. Eventually all the bugs will be gone and your continued patience is appreciated. I think we've said enough on this and should get back to making killer forums.

I had a look today into article.asp and noticed that the bar is not consistent within snitz forum. I also noticed that the article.asp
does not stick to the resultion in the case the subject and the forum
name contains too many characters. So I propose this change.

The first part (1 = 1) contains the old code, the second (1 = 2) the new code. Another problem with the mod ist that it does not contain a language file. Is there an international version avaiable? If not, no

Another problem: moderated topics.
I've made a category of topics with moderations so the original post need to be approved. The problem is that these posts are picked up and displayed before they are approved.
Are you guys aware of this? I searched through the previous pages and didn't see anything. Here's a great example of what happens in this situation

Hmmmmm, are you so sure it's a bad thing? I couldn't actually read the post and it does make it easier to spot new posts that need moderating but i can look into it. Just need to make some adjustments to the query.

Yeah, I'd say it's a bad thing, I'd say it's better not to have the unapproved topics to appear. On the forum, the author doesn't get a post count for it until it's approved, and like you said, no one will see it until it's approved, inless it's appearing on the front page that is. The purpose of the moderation, afterall, is to filter what is going to be shown.
Why thank you! I'm putting together a cool idea to help people design their own looks in my head that I'll share as soon as I sort it out to myself.
The layout modifies the parts of content.asp that I used, so everything gets messed up if I change anything, but thats ok because I don't use anything else yet. |
