I think it would be great if we could create a Yahoo style links section on this site to other Snitz forums out there.
Supporting Points: 1. We would be supporting the member sites (just as the member sites support this site by linking back to Snitz). 2. Members can view other forums to come up with good ideas for their own forums. 3. Surfers may actually find a useful site as a result of the Links Page. |

Note that the Snitz Webring has a PageRank on Google of Zero. Therefore, Google does not count the links at all. Google's results appear on AOL and Yahoo as well. If the links were here on Snitz, they would be PageRank 6 or 7, a major contribution to Snitz forums everywhere. |

dvduval has an interesting point if this is correct, most webrings I have seen do tend to keep traffic amongst themselves, which is either a good or bad thing depending on how you see it, however the webring site still gets lots of hits for the webring owners site.
The only addition is that this is another resource to maintain and administer, I would be pleased to help vet incoming links if this becomes an option.
Maybe even a worthwhile addition for the SnitzBitz or any other Snitz resources forum, even better if sites could <include> a central link repository to maximise hits and exposure, similiar to the DMOZ includes digitalwindmill offers.
At the end of the day, if such a resource could be moderated by the community so as not to place a burden on the admins of the site, this could drive lots of additional users to Snitz.
That's just my two pence, if someone could create such a thing and offer an <include> mod for it, this would achieve the same, even if it wasn't on the main snitz site.
Let's wait for the new links manager and I will try and make a demonstration.

I have another forum from phpbb. It is listed in their links section which has a PageRank of 7 and Google refreshes the cache of the forum every 4 days because of it. This would never happen as a result of a Webring listing.
I stress that this should be done HERE on THIS SITE. I really feel like the Snitz community should have a central site to encourage teamwork. |

Yeah, I was cruising the Snitz WebRing last night, looking for other implementations of Snitz 3.4.xx to get ideas about my own forum and to check certain features, but a lot of the links led me to something like "webring.htm" pages, i.e., webring entry pages the people create to get the hits to their own pages without adding the WebRing link to their actual forum, so I had a really hard time finding more forums. And many of the sites I did come across were made by some of the mad ASP coders here, and were way, way beyond my expertise. |

If y'all see a site in the webring that is doing something they shouldn't be doing, y'all can report it here. I'll look into it and remove the site if need be. |

I do agree with dvduval regarding the engine's ratings of the links, and would be happy to help in any way. A DMOZ of snitz sites leading from here would offer great exposure as well as a great resource to members.
I do enjoy Richard's posts though, waiting for the next y'all ... :-) |

Are you making fun of my use of y'all?
We do have a links manager on this site, it's used for quite a few things:

some of the things are kind of dated though. |

I think the enrichment of the content in the Links Manager site would be a great benefit to all! And why not let people submit their Snitz forums, even if they are not about Snitz? What a great way for members to list their forums! I'm sure someone around here would be willing to serve as moderator of the links manager. |
