You need to upgrade your database to an Access 2000 or 2002 format and change your connection string to one suitable for an Access 2000 database.

Next time, please search before posting. There are lots of posts about that problem.

Your host probably installed a new version of MDAC that no longer supports Acess 97....

Surprisingly, when I uploaded my backup file of inc_top.asp to my website, the forum is back!

So, what should I do to prevent the same thing from happening in the future? Do I need download the database and save it as Acess 2000 and upload it to my host server? or I can just do it online through admin area.

Many thanks for your quick reponse.

George

I would advise an upgrade to an Access 2000 DB and the change to the connection string as posted before. Access 2000 DBs are more robust and Access 2000 connection strings allow your forum to run faster.

You need to download the DB though. Can't be done online.

Just want to confirm what I need to do (I am a layman in coding):

1. I need to uncomment the strConnString line with MS Access 2000 in config.asp and change the database name to the same one as what I am using now.

2. I should download my current database, save it as an MS Access 2000 version and upload it to my server

3. I should then upload the config.asp file to my server.

Do I also need to do anything in the admin area?

Thanks,

George
