Presumably, this forum is now solely for V3.4 and the Help: General / Previous Versions is for V3.3.05 and back.

Wouldn't it be better to change the name of the forum to Help: General / V3.4 and the other forum to something like Help: General / <=V3.3.05 to stop any possible confusion?

Just my tuppence worth.

Okay, I originally posted this in Announcements: Community but it's been moved here. I didn't want to mix a question about the Snitz Forums 2000 site with general queries about forum code but, hey-ho!

I think the forums descriptions are descriptive enough:

quote:
Help: General / Current Version
This Forum is designed for users to support each other in the use of Snitz Forums 2000 latest version and to give them installation help. Before posting a new question, please take a look here first: http://forum.snitz.com/support.asp

and

quote:
Help: General / Previous versions
Note: we only support the current version. There will be no bugfixes for previous versions. But, if you really want to use an older version, then you might find someone that wants to help you here.

You think? There's been two post in Help: General / Previous versions today and dozens in Help: General / Current Version. If all those posts are to do with v3.4 then i'll eat my proverbial hat.

You're right, but this is something that happens when a new version comes out.

It's a good idea after all, but the naming used now makes it easier to administrate.

Yes, that's true.

I disagree. People would be more likely to post in the forum related to the version of Snitz they are running which should surely make the forums easier to administer?

But do people post in the appropriate forum?
No, they don't.

Even you posted in the wrong forum, and it has been moved to a wrong forum, because in my opinion this belongs to Suggest forum.snitz.com content since it is about the forum here.

Your suggestion is a good idea, as I said above, but I don't think it works because of people not knowing where to post.

Has anyone ever really read the Do's and Dont's?
Only a few people post their forum version, database used, all that stuff.

Again, I'd be the first one to change it, if it would change something.

I posted it in Announcements: Community because it is near the top and because nobody looks at Suggest forum.snitz.com content anyway, even though I agree with you that it was probably the most suitable place for this post.

This is too true. I have a forum on my site purely for promoting since I get so many people spamming my boards with message for their band/gig/website etc. and yet my mods and I still have to constantly move or delete spam.

Perhaps a moderator could move this topic again to the Suggest forum.snitz.com content forum?

Who said this IS the right forum?

Anyway, another thing:
Older versions are not officially supported; so would this make sense to keep a forum for each version? Or should only the title of the "Help - Latest version" forum change?

You'd end up with a lot of forums doing it that way! I think perhaps just the latest version forum should change its name.

Finally I agree with you:

I'd name them
Help: General / Current version (v3.4)

and

Help: General / Previous versions (v3.1SR4 - v3.3.05)

How about that?

I understand what you are saying, but in a week people will only occasionally post in the wrong forum. I've already started moving posts from the General Help/Current Version to the Previous Versions forum. With time and patience, everything will go Ok.
If the Admins agree with you they'll change the name, but IMO there is not a huge need to do it.
