Most of the members of my site who do forget their password also forget their user name. Is there any logical reason why the username is required on the pop_pword.asp? I would think the email address would be plenty.

If the email address resides in the members table, why not just shoot the message to that address? Why require the user name? How do I go about removing the requirement for user name?

STW.

This could get you in trouble, if you have "Reyuire unique mail address" disabled.

Otherwise, in pop_pword.asp uncomment the following lines:

if (Request.Form("Name") = "") then
Err_Msg = Err_Msg & "<li>You must enter your UserName</li>"

and

<tr>" & vbNewLine & _
" <td bgColor=""" & strPopUpTableColor & """ align=""right"" nowrap><b><font face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strDefaultFontSize & """>User Name:</font></b></td>" & vbNewLine & _
" <td bgColor=""" & strPopUpTableColor & """><input name=""Name"" size=""25""></td>" & vbNewLine & _
" </tr>" & vbNewLine & _

Then, you have only to adjust

" <tr>" & vbNewLine & _
" <td><font face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strDefaultFontSize & """><ul><li>Either your Username or your Email Address was not valid.</li></ul></font></td>" & vbNewLine & _
" </tr>" & vbNewLine& _

to your needs.

Should work.

then username would not matter either because the email address is still bogus.
