If I install 3.4 onto a new server pointing to an older version of my SQL database(that uses 3.3), will I be able to simply replace it with my current SQL database when I'm comfortable that everything is working properly?

Or are there some major differences in the db from 3.3 to 3.4 that would screw this up?

You'll have to run setup.asp whenever you get a new database or want to use an older/different one because of the extra database fields.

Following up...

So I could go ahead and get it running with my old copy using setup.asp, and then if I'm comfortable with how it's working, I could just run setup.asp a second time with the current database, right?

(just trying to do this carefully)

right... that'll work just fine. Just remember that all settings that you make in the first database (colors, features etc.) will have to be made in the second database too.
