By the way, the snitz forum is cool. But no one can say it will be 100% bug free.

No software is... but since there is a security bug identified, it should be addressed before general release (which is the current plan).

Snitz 3.4 will work when we get it
The other great differnece is that we will all be subject to free support, fixes and upgrades
(Still debating about weather to stay up all night and wait till 3.4 is out) ? |

Weve got to keep em distracted on something .
The security issue we have only seems to affect moderators rather than normal users, so it may be ok to release without the fix, but obviously we would rather not. |

Well, I am a normal user on this site (I think) and I can see forums and topics that I should not be seeing.
Granted, I cannot read them... I can only see the Title, but that is still a pretty big deal.

Oh sorry, I stand corrected, I thought it just affected moderators, since they seem to be the only ones reporting it. |

Is this still the case? We implemented a fix, but have not had much feedback on it. |

Richard, it is still not fixed.
I can see hidden forums and topics on active.asp... "The Scoop" sounds particularly interesting.

So why have you not been reporting this? What are the situations where you see this happening? Is that the only topic on the page, or are there others when you see it? |

Reported here on August 8th:
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32340
Rui said it had already been reported in a hidden forum.
I asked about the status on the 12th and again today (in this topic) to which Huwr replied in his charming way:

we are trying to trap a bug which is a bit elusive to say the least, but it is a security issue, so we will not release until we have fixed it.
maybe you should look at the previous pages
This leads me to believe that you guys are tracking it.
I am seeing many of the topics in "Ze Moderator Forum".
Someone mentioned that it might occur when the last post is made to a topic in a hidden forum.

Please Aaron, next time, update your report by saying that the bug doesn't appear to be fixed. This is an important one as you can imagine and we need as much feedback and reports on it as we can. |

Well, asking what the status is usually implies that it is not fixed.
And, no one ever posted that there was a potential fix to test.
I don't have access to the topic Rui mentioned about the bug, so I have no idea what the latest is on it.

Aaron, you can just start a topic in the v3.4 Bug Reports forum and then reply to it every time you see this happen (please provide the link to the topic that you see). Also, please let us know if it's the only topic on the page, or if there are others. If there are others, is it the one with the latest "Last Reply" date/time ?
Thanks! |
