i dont know if this has been posted, if it has please delete it/lock this. if somebody types a bad word regular such as *** it gets filtered, but if they write the word like so: b[ b][ /b]itch, but with out the spaces in front of the b's it gets written: bitch

This has been addressed before. Not much you can do about it.

has anyone changed the query on the bad words to do something similar to a LIKE statement in SQL?

How would that help in this situation ?

*** is NOT like [b ]B[/b ]itch.

The way to do it would be to use a regExp, but unfortunately it is not supported by older versions of asp

First off, I don't think this is that widespread of a problem - anyone who wants to cuss will do it one way or another (like adding a pic with it in there).

From a coding standpoint, you could probably use javascript to filter again after the message has been parsed by the Snitz code.

I had merely suggested "something similar" to the LIKE statement. I wasn't really suggesting using a SQL string.
