First of all, great thanx to the developers of this forum - it's the best free downloadable forum I've ever seen. Two thumbs up!

I'm starting to integrate SF2K into my own web site. Since it's a web site targeting Chinese audience, I will translate SF2K into Chinese. After I finish the Lang2052.asp + 4 gif files, I will upload them here.

Partners are highly welcome!

Hi,

For 2052 (Simplified Chinese), there is already a V4.x lang2052.asp translated. However, this one is in unicode (utf-8)format, not ISO locale language format. However, if you know how to convert UTF-8 into locale language format (BG), then, you will have it. One way to do is to open UTF-8 2052 in Notepad2000/2002 and save it in txt file, change a codepage to BG from UTF-8, and save it with BG format. If you have other editor which can handle this charset/codepage conversion, then, you can do that as well.

Dear Rasco, LeoRat,

Thx for the hints. I digged a bit more & found some people already did the translations:

- I couldn't open gotop's site, so cann't evaluate how well is his translation.
- With RusselHarvey's site http://pub.webhostme.com/forum/default.asp , I think he's done a great job coz the translation is beatiful.

In IE, I've checked Russel's simplified Chinese page & found it's in UTF-8 format instead of GB2312. I think I can help to convert it into GB2312 format. But I don't know where can I download his LANG ASP file?

Since I'm new here, I have a another simple question:
In my web site, I use SF2K V3.3.05, Russel mentioned that he is already using the V4.x with the international language dropdown list available. Is V4.X already released? If yes, where can I download it?

Thx a lot. Have a nice day!

You can find a lot of info on v4.0 Beta here:http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=25195

Version 4.0 is really 3.3.05 with some changes to ease translation. If will evolve to a release version with the addition of various features to support all that is needed to have International versions. All this will be addressed once 3.4 is released.

You can use v4.0 for a production forum. I do and a lot of Snitz users do also.

If you download v4.0 download the AllPatches zip file also. If can find it at the link I posted. To have the most up to date version all you need to do is extract the 'normal' files to a folder and then extract the patches files over the 'normal' ones.

Still in search of the UTF-8 version of the LANG file, & I found martopiggus seems to be the original author. So I tried to visit his web site at:
http://www.piggus.net/forum
but it seems the site is experiencing technical problem today & I cannot get conneted.
Also, the V4 testing site:
http://www.istanbulmuzesi.org/sf2k_v40_b02
didn't work out.
Your help is highly appreciated!
Thx & best regards

Sorry, I don't have access to the file either. Bozden, who has the file, is on vacation and I don't have it. I'd suggest that you wait a bit to see if the technical difficulties with martopiggus site are overcome.

Hi, Tang.

你好

Late catching up with this topic.

2052 is done by Russel, partially referencing to 1028 existed but it is his rework in Simple Chinese - original, based, in UTF-8.

If you want to get both Chinese (2052, 1028, though in UTF8), go to
my V4.x site, but kindly register yourself for a purpose of downloading, and go to Unicode Language Packs.... you can download both Chinese versions in UTF8.

Having them back into BG (Simplified Chinese) frm UTF8 can be done by re-selecting codepage when you save the file.

BTW, your www.strive4x.com and BBS are pretty nice.

OK, I have setup a download link for you. Get Simplified Chinese in both 2052 Unicode (UTF8) and BG2312 formats.

Please go to i2asiaForum - above link - and go to
Multilingual Snitz Zone and check Simplified Chinese langpack forum.
You see two links in there, one for BG2312 and other for Unicode. Both are basically the same, with different encoding scheme, with same graphics.

When you apply these langpacks to your V4.04, you will have to change a naming convention for a langxxxxx.asp with appropriate LCID. BG2312 is converted from unicode version. I looked at it in IE with BG2312 encoding and looks fine. But please verify.

Let me know when you are done with your downloading. This is a temporary download setup for you, Alex.

Hope this helps.

Taku

Thanx for setting up the download for me. But I couldn't access your web site at:

http://www26.brinkster.com/i2asia/forum/

seems that the site is temporarily down. If it's convenient for you, could you just send those LANG files to me by email at:

siliang22@yahoo.com

Many thanks

Dear Taku,

I got your email with the LANG files attached, thanx a lot (I still couldn't access your site, I know there are some IPs filtered out by Chinese ISP's for whatever reasons, but never mind...)

I will verify both files (UTF-8 & BG) & come back soon.

Best regards
