This is for whoever runs the Snitz Exchange or a site like that... or whoever wants to develop it.
I've seen a lot of great color schemes as I look at other people's forums. Hence, my idea...
I'd like to see someone build a page that displays color schemes that us users put in. The page layout could display all the elements of a forum (font size, category colors, background, border colors, etc). You could choose the scheme using a dropdown menu.
Users would use a form that looks exactly like the administrative colors configuration and submit their own color and font schemes. It goes to the database and allows others to view what they've done and even print up the whole scheme.
It sounds kind of complicated and I can't explain it very well but I hope you understand.
I know some people want to keep their color and design ideas to themselves and that's fine. But I wouldn't mind it, if someone liked my colors or liked they way I did something, if they asked me what the exact colors were I'd tell them.
It's not like we're competing (except for the monthly Snitz award). We are all using these forums on different sites, for different purposes, and about different topics. It doesn't hurt to share once in a while.
Any takers on building this onto their Snitz site? Who knows? Maybe I'll get bored this weekend and do it myself. I'd rather someone else do it who knows a lot more about the Snitz code.

I can't make anything with ASP except an occasional menu that changes depending on the page, but that's a good idea. The only reason people wouldn't share their color scheme is to try and keep their look theirs, if you know what I mean.
A lot of stuff is being 'stolen' from websites and used on others already. Just because the subject is different, it doesn't mean it should look the same.
I can think of a way to do what you want... Have people register to a forum, and then instead of creation of topics, they create a set of config variables. It'd only require one table with 28 fields (User ID, scheme name and the 26 config options, not counting the ones for "Table Size Configuration" as those aren't important for the look). Of course Admin has to be able to delete schemes (multiple postings etc.). Then they can go to a page where they can look at four demo pages: default.asp, forum.asp, topic.asp and post.asp. Their choice of scheme can be selected in a select box and the choice is stored in a cookie (no need to clutter the DB with it).
As you can see, ideas a plenty... Too bad I'm so stupid that I can't work out my ideas

There is a MOD for custom colors. It's not so easy to allow users to set their own although the custom color MOD I use does have an import/export for color scheme files. What might work is to have some utility on your site that has the same form but then writes to the text file that you then import thereby eliminating the need for drastic coding or creation of new tables and variables. Here is the process:
1. User goes to color theme creator page
2. User sets colors the way they want The colors are just held in hidden fields until satisfied
3. User is happy and writes to color theme template file
4. User uploads color theme template file
5. User selects template

I'm not talking about a skinnable forum for users. I'm talking about a service to the snitz forum community (us on this site). The service is the ability to upload and view color and font configurations each of us have designed. It's not a mod per se for each of us to use on our sites. Make more sense? Maybe I should have posted this in another forum.

If you want skins to happen on this site, forum.Snitz.com, then you need to talk to Richard or HuwR.
I can tell you what they would say though. "No"

I Think your getting confused Nathan.
I think they're just looking for a place where users can swap color schemes that look good. be it via a forum or something else. I guess Snitz Exchange was suggested becasue thats where we 'trade' mod, so why not colour schemes too.

Why did you post a feature request for Snitz exchange here ?
This is not the Snitz exchange.
A similar suggestion was made a long time ago when I split the colors out of the main table in my download, but it never took off, so I never developed the idea further
