I am hosting with www.hostonce.com.

I dont think they allow direct write access to directories, but the do allow me to setup ODBC connections.

I have the snitz_forums_2000.mdb file in my htdocs/wwwboard directory (htdocs is the home for the webserver), I setup the ODBC connection which I have called wwwboard and the path is set at htdocs/wwwboard/snitz_forums_2000.mdb.

What do i do now in respect to the config.asp file?

I know i uncheck the strDBType so it's an access database, but what do I do on the strConnString string?

This would be a great help and any assistance most appreciated.

Regards,

RikW.

You need to uncomment the strConnString applicable to your database and enter the path to your db.

Read the Installation Help in my siggy.

Cheers, I've done that.

It tells me now though that

quote:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.

/wwwboard/inc_functions.asp, line 716

Please can somebody check it out at

http://www.angeldeelite.com/wwwboard

to see the error in action. Does it mean that I have setup the database connection properly but my (stupid) host hasn't got the permissions setup correctly?

If so, what do I need to tell my host to do as I don't have the facility to change permissions myself, and should they be willing to do this?

Thanks again (what a good forum this is)

This is a permissions problem indeed.

Read these:

http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16559

http://www.dougscode.com/faq/default.asp?id=q1020

Contact your provider to change the permissions.
