I've been running several sites built around Snitz forums with MS Access for about a year and a half now and am quite pleased with the architecture. Unfortunately these each average less than 100 users.

I'm preparing to build a portal site for a non-profit organization with 4000+ existing members, which will be the basis for all their digital communications. I will run a dedicated webserver as well as a dedicated SQL server. My question is this: how well does Snitz running on a SQL backend scale with up to hundreds of active users at any given time? Assuming my webserver is configured appropriately for the volume of traffic and plenty of machine memory available for handling session and application objects, is there anything I should be aware of when setting up for this scale of project based on Snitz?

Thanks in advance....

A. W.

Snitz should be able to handle that just fine. Take this forum for example, it has nearly 9000 members. I have heard rumors, perhaps Huwr could confirm them, that there are as many as 150 users active on this site at times. This forum is version 3.3.03 on SQL 2000 and a shared server.

Yours will be on a dedicated server, so it should have more room. Plus if you upgrade to 3.4 when it comes out it should reduce the strain on the server greatly as much effor has gone into optimizing the code for high traffic situations.
