Is there an auction mod out there. A mod allowing members to buy and sell stuff through an auction type format?

not yet actually,

but current classifieds mod is derived from

they also had a free auctions script

here: http://www.xcent.com/products/XcAuctionLite.htm

so, you may change it in order to make it suitable for your needs.
