Some MODs use extra database tables/fields. Some of them use non-unicode types, which *must* be replaced by unicode counterparts (ntext & nvarchar). This will need a better approach for installing them, because they don't work on older SQL servers.

I'm convinced to use the utf-8 approach. There is only the risk that editing the utf-8 encoded files with non utf-8 enabled SW.

I could not reach this AU 4.05 file. Can you send it to my e-mail please?

I will send you a AU4.05 I have with mod Lang1041 added.

I understand that it would take some hard leg works to get fully unicode enabled...

Have a great weekend.

Hi Bozden,

Got bounced back from your hotmail and just sent you to your other one..now you tell me it's down... Well, maybe I should put it up on my i2Asia so that you can get it...shall I do that?

(Somehow hotmail is still bit funky...)

I sense there is a nevernewer version for AU? One I used was 4.05....now Nathan mentions 4.07...

Anyway, a zip I tried to send is all UTF files.

Am getting good at using crossline..... Well, I got a typo in your hotmail address...da~. Sorry about this puss... Resent it just now. Let me know.

Is Au_4.0.07 a major enhancement/change in it from 4.0.05????

Thanks.

Its just accumulated bug fixes and stuff I have changed to be more compatable with different ASP versions and database versions and stuff.

For example, I removed the getRows because it doesn't work on some servers.

Question: I got this error when I installed your V4 Compatible version with a modified 1041....

Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0411'

Name redefined

/i2asia/forum/LangMODS_Events.asp, line 42

Dim strAllForums, strEventEdited, strEventDeleted,
----^
strCalendarOfEvents, strViewByMonth, strViewByWeek, strGo, strAddEvent

I had this error also with V2rs1 International (my reason not to install V2rs1 Internatinal previously....) I have my sites running on Brinkster, and am wondering whether this is another one of those that Brinkster does'nt like to process...

What would be alternative, do you know by any chance?

Thanks,

Taku

This states that the variable is tried to be DIM'med once again. This usually happens when you include a file twice, one from upper level, one from lower level, the other from lower level.

I think I've solved that problem in my alpha version.

I am using your Alpha version. I have not touched anything except mod 1041 and also in langMODS_events to have Include for 1041 and else clause to set all others go to English, as Nathan did in his AU_MOD... (since I don't have S/T Chinese version). I did check with Brinkster and of course didn't find any conflict in VBS DIM statement syntax itself...

Will this be caused because with the previous installation there are some modifications made in inc_top.asp.... or this has nothing to do wih it?

Thanks

Must be this. Check your other forum files and remove any unnecessary references to the language resource file(s). Be carefull, it can be nested. If the nesting is not preventable, you have to comment out these DIM's (as a last resort).

I am not quite sure where to make any ammendaments, as I checked inc_top.asp, config.asp, langMODS.asp.... It's half there at this moment.

(1) I remeoved all previous event calender files and replaced them with your Alpha version. LangMODS_events1041.asp is further modified with the last item strlangScreenView related 3 lines added and is now consistent with Alpha version langmod file.

(2) In LangMODS_Events.asp, include statements contains 1033 for English, 1041 for Japanese, and 1033 for anyother (default to the default).

(3) DIM error - this happens when Include in Config.asp contains <!-- INCLUDE FILE="LangMODS_Events.asp -->

(4) Config.asp now do not have Include LangMODS_Events.asp and processed without any error for installing MOD.

I belive I know why this is. I see LangMODS_Events.asp is nested in Events.asp with INCLUDE, where Events.asp is linked to a inc_top.asp top menu item... So, I assume that having LangMODS_Events.asp in Config.asp is creating duplication... Maybe this is also because Events Calender was designed as a standalone mod originally as well...???

(5) Login as Admin, select "events" in Top menu link, and can open EventsCalender Monthly page. Now top left directory shows correctly in Japanese. Some prompts/links in Events Calender are in Japanese, but month/year, etc. are remaining in English.

(6) Add an Event page/table UI are not in Japanese, except one. (Obvious break with langstrXXXXXXXX strings as I notice these are already translated.

(7) Go to View Weekly Calender, and all are remaining in English.

I would appreciate if you can take a look further. I will be sending you a zip file containing these screenshots. I suspect there got to be a module which does date translation into appropriate locale date/time -- if then type -- which I think I saw it somewhere in Forum discussed.

Thanks for your continued help.

Am not yet clear why some of langstrings showing correctly and some are not showing at all...Does this to do with DIM declaration? Or some links among modules not properly set? I haven't try commenting out DIM stuff totally...

Here is a listing of strings remaining in English:

(1)View by Month page:

*Month Year (May 2002) at the top of a monthly calender with left/right arrows - both in a mini calender on the left and a full calender in the center.
*Day of a Week (S,....S)(Sun,.....,Sat), both in a mini and full calender.
*Year in a pulldown box (2002), not showing in 2002 "Year", while a month pulldown box showing May as 5th "Month"...

(2) Add an Event Table Page

*Top Table Title, "Add an Event"
*ScreenSize
*StartDate
*EndDate
*EventTitle
*EventDetails
*Private Event
*Mode
*AddEvent
(Only Format is showing in JA. I see all these strlangs are translated...in langMODS_Events1041.asp)

(3)View by Week Page

*Top title, "Sunday, May 26, 2002-Saturday, June01,2002"
*Each Day of a Week, a la: "Sunday, May 26, 2002", etc.etc.
*Message: "There are no events for this day"

(4) Add Event to a DayofWeek Page

*Title, "Events for Wednesday, May 29,2002" for example
*Table title: "There are no events for this day."
*Messabe: "Would you like to add an event for this day?"

(5) Events Added Page

*Title, "Events for Friday, May 03, 2002"
*Message Table Title: XXXXXXXX(JA) - "Added by Admin"
*Bottom link: "add an event for this day"

All these in " " are remaining in English.

I just realized that now Edit/Delete of an Event does not work any longer.... which was working when V2rs1 was installed.
