please accept a warm hello to everyone on the forum (just trying to butter u up before i ask my question that no doubt has been answered a million times b4) i am totally new to this forum thing so here goes on trying to run the setup.asp i get the usual not pointing at database message, now i have used the find.asp file in my cgi-bin and it gives me a path of /webs/whitelabel/freeserve/bp1/www.mywebsite.com/cgi-bin/snitz_forums_2000.mdb
now i am using access 97, but exactly which strconnstring line do i put this into? i have followed the installation guide and tried all three access 97 options but none seem to work! ps wot is a brinkster (sorry thicko here)?
cheers for any help

What is your username at brinkster? Your conn string should be:
strConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("\YOURUSERNAME\db\snitz_forums_2000.mdb")
where you should replace YOURUSERNAME by your actual user name...

i have just spoken to freeserve and they do support asp.... never the less,, given that find.asp gave my pointer to the database as
/webs/whitelabel/freeserve/bp1/www.mywebsite.com/cgi-bin/snitz_forums_2000.mdb
where would i put this in the config.asp file (refering to the installation guide option 1 2 or 3?)
cheers in advance

Nuld, as far as I know, freeserve uses Unix (or Linux servers). Ok, maybe they support ASP, I'd think they use Chili!ASP for that. But if their server is a Linux one you cannot use Access databases, no matter what they tell you. You'll need to use MySQL.
Just check with them what is the OS for their servers, or maybe just post here the URL for your account and I'll check whether that is a *nix based OS or not.

Hey Snitz works with MySQL. So you may stay with them as long as they also support MySQL.
