Can't the lang files be optimized a bit ? - Some have talked about splitting the file into severel files, and thats fine... but...

Why is there two (or more) different variables for ex. "occupation" in the lang ? - When you show the profile it uses one variable and when you edit the variable it is another variable...

Is it because you then can specify the meaning with the word in some way, when you edit this field... or what is the generel meaning ?

Which other idears have you had, selecting this method ? - Have you guys tried some other methods or what ... ?

One of the reasons I'm asking is also that I'm going to make my own site, international - and I'm trying to find out which method is the best !

The best method is whatever suits you and you find eaiest to code. The way we are doing it is not necesarily the best, but we have to try and support every possible combination of DB/IIS so have to generaise, If you are doing it for yourself however, you are not limited by our constraints

It is then "on purpose" that you have made severel constraints for the same word ?... So that "the admin" can change every text on the board - even if the words is similar on different pages ?

Regarding the internationalization of pages in general, does you in your studies have any great idears, how to do this "the best vay" (most optimized)...

I have looked at the following solutions:
  • Lang specific HTML files (templates) - one file pr. language (difficult to make generel changes)
  • Templates - Parsing the language into the template file (time consuming)

  • Database - all language are in the database, and is looked up every time or put into an array in global.asa

- Any other idears, which you have tried / looked into ?

If I didn't have any constraints, I would use the dictionary object for a multi-language site.

There are some good articles in M$ sites about the general structure. If you like I can post them in the links section of the "Start Here" topic...
