The database setup file will automatically erase the FORUM_ONLINE table used by the old active users and create a new FORUM_ACTIVE_USERS table.
Other than that, there is only one part of 3.5 that you have to 'remove.' Many parts get copied over with updated stuff though.

I use v4b03 on a site which will go online as a prerelease in a few days... Its in dansih and use MS SQL server.
