Hi all!

There is already an idea of when we'll be able to get the first international non-beta realease?

Thanks.

I guess it should take a while yet. Version 4.0 will need to be updated to incorporate the lastest changes in 3.4 (that is not yet releases) and I believe there are still some issues to be finalized after that.

Bozden, the person in charge of the internationalization of Snitz, is the best person to answer you on that one. But maybe the can't be that specific...

Actually rurib, I think its gonna be the other way around.

Version 3.4 will be updated to include the changes of version 4.0bx

Well Nathan (I know you don't like your name in bold, don't want to give you any headache ),

As far as I know Bozden is already incorporating features of 3.4 into 4.0. This has been said by him, answering my own specific questions on that precise subject. So 4.0, being initally 3.3 with changes to account for internationalization, will need to be updated to incorporate relevant changes introduced in 3.4 (I guess you don't want 4.0 to be "less" than 3.4).
This is my view of the upgrade path, as far as I interpreted things from bozden's posts about this issue.

Even the fact that 4.0 has all strings as variables seems to indicate that it will evolve by incorporating changes from 3.4 code, instead of the other way around. I guess it's just easier to do it like that. But bozden is the real "authority" on this issue and maybe him can shed some light on this.

I have spent a lot of time on the files in v3.4, removing excess spacing, getting the formatting of the resulting HTML to be clean, etc.. I would hope that this wasn't all for nothing.<

Bozden was at one point trying to keep up with all the bug fixes and changes to the code. But once he saw how much Richard had altered he gave up and decided to just re-pull the strings out when verson 3.4 is released.

I could look up the thread. . .

Well don't take my word for it. I'm just telling you about the feeling I got from some messages from bozden. I am by no means an authority on this. Having coded a lang pack I also gottat tell ya that I think it would (will?) be a major task to rewrite 3.4 with all the string variables necessary for internationalization again (there are almost 2000 of them now).

Your message kinda of surprises me because I thought you guys had the evolution strategy for 4.0 already planned...

Maybe you are right Nathan. I'm just conveying my impressions on this. I'm by no means sure that this will be the way, specially since you say bozden might have changed his mind.
One thing I can tell ya though: saying

just re-pull the strings ...

may be an understatement...

I have not been involved with 4.0 at all. I am focusing on v3.4. But, I did mention to Bozden that it would be best to start with v3.4 final when it is released and then incorporate the Internationalization changes.<

OK, I see it.
Maybe you are right. I guess with several people working the task of internationalizing 3.4 could probably be done in a short period, given the excelent organization of the langNNNN.asp file that makes it very easy to know from which files does each string come from. So in spite of the difficulty of the task, it is likely that it can be accomplished in a short schedule.

Also if there are indeed major changes in the code for 3.4, maybe it is harder to track down those changes on the code. Maybe.
