What about starting a list where people can subscribe to, where you send an email everytime you release another beta of the forum. I think that should be a great feauture!

Thats a great idea! It could be set up as a sort of newsletter system.

I'm working on a mod which will allow a user to subscribe to a topic, a forum, a category or the whole board (admin configurable of course). I've got it working for topics, I just need to add the admin stuff for the rest.....
I'll try to work on it this weekend.

I'd like the letter that is being sent to the users to be customizable through the admin section. Also so that special carrachters like ĺ,ä,ö in swedish ís enabled! I cant get special carracters working! I've tried ASCII uploading - but it doesnt work!

Yeah, this is included with the code I'm incorporating for you right now. I just didn't get as far with it as I wanted this weekend (real life sure can interfere with Snitzaholism...). I'll be working on it tonight...

so back to TCU's original idea... again... if anyone wants to write a MOD/APP to do a mail list / subscription piece for an E-Newsletter... we'd use it!

I think this is possible using dave's subscription code, you can basically setup a category/forum or topic that people can subscribe to, you then post any admin anouncements in that forum and anyone subscribed will get an email (Ithink, I'm sure Dave will corect me if I'm wrong):)

I think that's what I've been working on lately? I will soon release version 4, where you can choose which forums that people can subscribe to. Can it be useful? I'd be glad to help.

That would be correct. You can subscribe at a board, category, forum or topic level (all admin configurable of course) and use that as an easy way to do newsletters....
