I have both the English and French versions running as two separate forums. Is it possible for both versions to access the same database so that the forum appears in whatever language the visitor chooses?
Yes, that is what version 4 and version 4 betas are all about. If you want to use a version 4.0bx I have one warning for you. They probably wont be supported in future upload scripts.

If you are using a pre-version 3.3.03 forum, first upgrade to v3.3.03, than you can use the database with v40b03. Download v40b03 from sourceforge, download the latest patches from my signature. Search the internationalization forum for beta language files/packs. In the readme.txt file there is some information. Major changes will go into config.asp (very bottom part)and that area is very well documented using comments.
Be careful: Version 4.0 is in beta status. In the near future v3.4 will come out and we will prepare v40b04. This version will include substantial changes in the programming structure. Also the language files do not auto translate the forum contents .
If you want to keep old posts in your previous forums, you have to carefully merge them by hand. I don't know how, but it will not be very easy.

I sorta bumped into this message and I found it really suprising. What do you mean you need to merge old posts by hand. I guess migrating posts from previous versions to 3.3 will upgrade the DB and everything will be OK (I've tried this and it works). So what does this really mean? You are talking about moving from 4.03 to 4.04 or some future version?
