actually the code could be used. i helped him with some parts of it, and i wrote the FAQ's cause Eric was having some problems, but once i finished it he took off and has not been around to add the FAQ's.
As I told Nathan before, I will give him full access to freeaspcode.net so he can update the MOD page, add anything he wants, basically do anything on the site. But he didnt want to do that and wanted to do his own thing.
Many people know that the MOD's are on freeaspcode.net, and it has been used for quiet awhile now. Its no problem switching people over to a new site, but why when this is working?

Actually Brad, Stimmy and I talked about it last night. I think we have it under control.

So which is THE place to upload mods? I have some old mods to dump off someplace so that people can get to them. I'm hoping I only need to put them in one spot.

Brad I figured since I wasnt around much to update the Mod Resource, that we'd move all of em over to his resource and update his a bit to filter the file extensions, improve security etc.
I (and I'm sure Nathan) am open to Idea's though.

There are several features at the mod resource that we are going to try to move the exchange. (The big one of coarse Eric's better security) as well as little things like paging, and the 'top 5' lists ect.

Nathan,
It sounds like when you get a host, give me a jingle ;) we'll get you the domain stuff then... maby a workaround would be available?
having the files and stuff in the current location and a top level domain that essentialy forwards all requests through itself to the host giving the appearance of the domain level name?

I think that would work. As long as it didn't turn into a URL frame (Where the domain stays the same but the pages change)

nope... the thing is going to be finding someone who can do this for us... but it basicaly tricks out the server...
you go to http://exchange.snitz.com and the server running the exchange domain would send the request to the server hosting the files... and then it gets sent back to the client.
I've never done it, but I have seen it work... it's quite slick :)
Alternately we could just find someone who is willing to host it...
Alternately Alternately maby Heptite would be willing to merge with your two and use http://www.snitz.info ?

I am trying to follow what you's are doing. If your host supports DNS Zone Files, couldn't you put Nathans IP 63.99.209.7/snitz/ in the DNS Zone File record which points to the sub-domain http://exchange.snitz.com
Then if someone types in http://exchange.snitz.com then the record should redirect it to Nathans 63.99.209.7/snitz/
If I am way off track, just ignore this post then

well my opinion is just leave it where it is, and nathan can add his data and try and updates eric's data. that was the very first thing i said when this topic got started is that i would give nathan complete access to freeaspcode.net so he could change it and get everything going, but he didnt want to do it.

Brad - . . . I hate to be blunt, but it must be said.
The reason I refused your offer to host the Snitz Exchange in the first place is because the Snitz Exchange was made for Snitz, not for freeaspcode.net When exchange.snitz.com is set up I will remove all traces of 'ls3k' including the copyright which will become "© 2001-2002 Snitz Communications"
If there is a gap in my logic, I am always open to discussion.

Yes, that would be what needs done. Else there was someone in the hosting forums offering free hosting to 'major snitz projects'

nathan you never even said anything about that. you just said, no you dont want to piggy back it off freeaspcode's site. its whatever but when you say you need a domain to stick this site on and someone offers it to you, why turn them down when you dont even know what they want?
