I too am getting an error when viewing the messages with the new smilies in them, and I know what the problem is.
I have http:// links for the smilies, and what it looks like is happening is the code, after replacing the smilie code with the smilie URL, then sees the http://, and replaces it with
< a href="http://
So I am guessing the smilie is replaced properly, then the String formatting functions see the URL, and modify it to make it clickable...
Any ideas?
Thanks. |

quote: The sig is supposed to be a 255 character field. When a smilie ie. ([N6]) is inserted, it seems to increase the byte count by 47.
The signature is limited to 255 characters by the database, which cann only store 255 characters in a 'text' datatype. When you put a smilie in your signature, it is translated into HTML <img> tags before being stored in the database. So therefor it it is translated into <img src="longpathhere/icon_smile.gif"> you could easily get 100+ characters for one smilie.

The smilie problem sounds like your getting a mix of HTML and Forum Code.

Yeah, it's also funny that he's breaking the GPL licence that come with the forums and thereby he is breaking the law...

So after all these comments any solution you guys can offer ? actually I don't have the intention to plug-in the MOD because it's abit time consuming to add-in additional picture but since already done all the scripting...

Same problem here. Are we the only two who are having this problem? Surely someone must know what the solution is. It would be greatly appreciated if that "someone" could help. Thanks in advance.

Does anybody know of a way to insert smileys without using the brackets?
i.e. type in ;) and when you post get instead of typing in [ ;)]
I've seen other forums do this, and wondering how difficult a mod this would be.

All you need to do is change the code in the smile manager from [ ;)] to ;) that works just fine.

Your download link doesn't seem work. I get an ODBC SQL Driver error.

Hi there, I'm afraid I have the exact same error message as "Doughnut" had on his post earlier. Ref- http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=3&TOPIC_ID=16429
I'm sorry but I didn't see a fix for this? Thanks in anticipation.
The error message-
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e37'
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query 'FORUM_SMILES'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.
/nu_ukbeg5/forum/inc_functions.asp, line 447
Cheers.
Regards
Steve.

steve shakeshaft It doesn't appear that you ran the admin_mod_dbsetup.asp file to add the table to your db.
