Anonymous Access Mod Author: Davio Last Updated: December 11, 2001.
This mod allows your users to post a message on your forum without registering first. Since this mod required extensive editing of the forum files, I have decided not to give it out as a stand alone mod, but I have installed it on a clean install of the Snitz Forums 2000, version 3.3.03 forum. I have also packaged along with it all the other mods I have done. The list is below:
Installed Mods: - Anonymous Access Mod - Poll Mod - Ban IP Mod - Email Random Password Mod - Signature Preview Mod - Disable Registration Mod
If you really really want the stand alone version of the Anonymous Access Mod, you can post at my forum and request it. I will only give the stand alone version of this mod to users who are well versed in ASP. No exeptions.
Downloads: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/heartofstone2/ ---> Mods ---> Anonymous Access Mod http://dsilvera.com/download.asp?mod=anonymous_access&ver=full
Updates: http://dsilvera.com/download.asp?mod=anonymous_access&ver=update This file contains only the files that have been edited since the last update. So you won't have to download the whole package just to update your files.
Demo: http://www.dsilvera.com/v33/
December 11 - Fixed "exception occured" error when first installing the forum. - Files edited: inc_functions.asp
November 16 - Fixed errors when trying to delete a topic. - Files edited: pop_delete.asp
November 14 - Fixed missing delete member icon from members.asp page. - Added BadWord check, to check if the user is using a profane username when posting. - Added illegal character check, to check if the user is using any illegal characters in thier username when posting. - Fixed bug when you deleted a post by an anonymous user, their name was still seen as the last post author on the forum.asp and default.asp pages.
Note: As The Administrator, You Are Responsible For All Posts Made On Your Forum.

To Davio, When I saw that you offered your mods with a clean install, I went ahead and did the clean install with all of your mods.
I unzipped the new install into a folder and did the config.asp modifications and all is well. My problem is that I don't know what to expect now. I assumed that if a new member entered the forum, he/she would not have to register. I did the clean install mostly for that feature.
When the new member entered a user name and password (without registering) the message came back stating that he would have to register.
Do I have the wrong understanding of what that particular mod is all about? I have been testing the Snitz Forum for only a few days so I am not familiar with earlier conversations. I suspect that I should probably be looking somewhere in the admin setups to disable the feature that forces a person to register.
I think I will wait for help before I do anything else.
cheers, Dan

Yep, you're correct. First, you need to turn it on in the "Features COnfiguration" section. Then you need to go to the "Members" page and edit the account that you want to use for the Anonymous Account. Then you should be set to go.

To Davio, For the Anonymous mod clean install with your package I have...
Features Configuration section: Anonymous Access = ON Allow Registrations = ON
I went to the Members Details Configure section but I don't see any field in that section that pertains to Anonymous Access.
So at the moment I don't know what to do.
cheers, Dan

It's the Member Level at the lower right hand corner of the Edit Member Details page. It's the Member Level you need to change. Where it has "Normal User", "Moderator", "Administrator". You should also see "Anonymous User".

Oh you meant the Allowed Members List problem. Yeah, that's a bug with the Snitz Forums.
