When I upgrade should I create a new directory (/V33/) where the files use the same database as my /forum/ directory? Should I upgrade the database using the setup.asp file or will that cause problems with the previous version? I want to start configuring the new version while the other version is still active using the same database.

Is this possible? Am I making sense?

I guess not. Luckily, I backed up my database.

I can't remember the exact error message but when I ran the setup page that upgraded the database, I could not add a new topic using the 3.1 SR4 pages. It gave an error like "something can not have a zero length string" maybe. I wish I copied the error message down. Maybe I'll try it again and post the error.
