Posted - 01 June 2015 : 19:15:10 Are you guys getting the Microsoft alert on your task bar saying you can get Windows 10 FREE?
http://www.computerworld.com/article/2906810/microsoft-seeds-windows-7-81-pcs-with-windows-10-upgrade-nag-notices.html
My question is this, after the first year do you then have to purchase it?
I've heard it's FREE for the life of your computer as long as you get it during the first year.
I've also heard it's only FREE for this first year after it's released.
Does anyone have a link explaining this?
Also, are you guys going to wait about doing the upgrade to avoid the hassle of the probable bugs that are always in new versions?
Inquiring minds want to know. . .

Posted - 09 August 2015 : 22:24:27 I have now upgraded to Windows 10.
I've always loved to use keyboard shortcuts. And you're right, Carefree, there's definitely a plethora of new ones.
I have a question. Does anyone know where the option is to view the Status Bar in Windows Explorer? It's always been on the "View" menu but I can't seem to find it in Windows 10.
Never mind. Apparently, it's turned on automatically. I failed to realize this because with an image selected it wasn't showing the pixel size in the Status Bar like it's done in previous versions of Windows. How dare they!

Edge? Can take it or leave it. It doesn't force itself to be your browser. Who started that rumor? I'm using Firefox on W10 at the moment.
I saw this article: http://techcrunch.com/2015/07/30/pushed-over-the-edge/#.c8ivz5:bbcX
I have noticed some css issues with Edge when viewing the mvc forum, my overlay icons are not rendering in the same position as they do in IE/Chrome and Firefox one of these days all browsers will render the same |

You should get asked that during setup, or at least I did anyway, so obviously said no to sharing it
I may have chosen manual setup (chose what to keep) so may have gotten different options |

Posted - 05 August 2015 : 09:34:41 Visual studio issue sorted, it installed a newer version of System.Mvc.Web so all references to that were broken and nothing would compile. |

Posted - 04 August 2015 : 20:04:03 There is something that is on by default and should be turned off as soon as you upgrade or people can use your Wi-Fi that are part of your friends/contacts:
Step 1: Go to settings and select "Network & Internet"

Step 2: Select "Manage Wi-Fi settings"

Step 3: Untick all listed in the "For networks I select, share them with my"

Step 4: Then turn off the "Connect to networks shared by my contacts"

Then it should protect you from allowing your contacts from being able to use your Wi-Fi with out the need to put in passwords or knowing the Wi-Fi SSID. It is the only thing that I found that should be off by default, but is not. I hope that helps people out.

Posted - 04 August 2015 : 11:03:34 Edge is the default browser, but you can change that in the Settings --> Default Programs. I notice other browsers don't seem to prompt you if it is not the default. You must be pro-active. Edge is pretty fast and VERY clean ... too clean. It needs some work. |
