Posted - 19 May 2008 : 03:15:02 Somebody should expand the Gatekeeper question & two answers into a table of at least 10 questions (with two answers for each). Then use a random number to choose which question to ask for each call (from email, registration, posting).
That way the spammers couldn't get the question & add it to their routine because it would change every time they wanted to do anything.< |

Posted - 20 May 2008 : 11:36:35 Assuming we want to be silly, could also use foreign languages and spell out the numeral, upper and lower case lettering, etc. You cannot possibly eliminate all the different ways that people can construe (read "twist") the meaning. The best you can do is apply the KISS ("keep it simple, stupid") principle and attempt to make the answers obvious.< |

Add in base 10 using Arabic numerals to the question.< |

an exampel i remeber from the post was thsi question
what number comes after 5? 2 4 6 9 24
now depends how u look at it, the last 3 numbers come after 5 so its all swings and roundabouts
That's just a poorly written question. A better way to do that would be: 1, 2, 3, x, 5 - What's the missing number (represented by x)?< |

Posted - 19 May 2008 : 15:06:31 There's no point in having 10 questions when one is enough. If you have one good question then it will only be beaten by a human spammer who will defeat a CAPTCHA anyway.
The question doesn't have to be difficult or clever or cryptic. It can be as simple as
Q. What colour is red? A. Red Q. Type the word TRUST in the antispam box below. A. TRUST Q. What is 1 plus 3? A. 4 or four Q What is 2 multiplied by 2? A. 4 or four
And so on.
