[edit 2006-03-06] I've resumed work on developing this mod [/edit]
OK, as promised here is the preview links for the WYSIWYG RTE mod. Please, as it is a live forum and it is a church website, keep the posts clean and use the Testing Forum only. I would appreciate feedback about its functionality in various browsers other than IE. The mod is based on the TinyMCE RTE from tinymce.moxiecode.com and supposedly supports a wide variety of browsers that I don't have access to.

Oh, and please, I know the website in general needs a major overhaul, so just keep the comments to the operational functionality of the RTE. It is a frames based site (baaaad...), but that will be fixed soon enough now that I have an HTML editor for a portal style page. The link will take you directly to default.asp.
The link: St. Paul's Anglican Church Forums
User: snitz0, pw: snitz0 (Forumcode privs test account)
User: snitz1, pw: snitz1 (Basic RTE test account)
User: snitz2 pw: snitz2 (Advanced RTE test account)

I have not customized the RTE in any way yet, the two modes are default as distributed by moxiecode. It can be customized.
Left to do:
1) smilies, I have a handle on this one. default RTE set works, but the snitz ones will work soon. [EDIT] thought it was done sad, needs major work with image manipulation. [/EDIT]
2) Image tag handling issues to resolve. Post fine into db but displayed incorrectly. Getting more intimate with FormatStr and supporting functions than my liking.
3) URLs get parsed twice if inserted using RTE link tool and without "http://" prefix. All other methods of inserting URLs appear to work. Looks more like an RTE bug.
4) Need additional toolbar buttons for code and quote tags. [edit 2006-03-06]Semi-functional[/edit].
5) Admin panel: right now, RTE privs can be assigned on a user by user basis, but I would like to build an admin panel for bulk assignments.
6) HTML to ForumCode conversions: Images, Smilies conversion. URL conversion. Paragraph & CR conversion. Font tags, not yet, too many combos and not practical.
Still a lot of work & testing needed. Getting close now.
[edit 2006-03-06] Surprisingly the modifications to base code are very minimal, I've managed to accomplish most of the integration in an include file. I've re-enabled the test accounts for a short while, appreciate your feedback. Pending positive feedback, I'll post what I have thus far. If anyone is interested to help with this project, email me via the forum. [/edit]
cheers,

Not yet... but soon. I have a couple of issues to resolve first.
BTW, what browser were you looking at it with?

I made the same mod of you, but i've used the RTE editor.
Everything works fine, but i've realized a strange behave when (by client) use forum with firefox on linux computer.
Sometimes (more or less 12 times on 50) the textarea doesn't work fine: normally u write on a white background, but when it doesn't work u write on a gray background and the message isn't save.
did u find the same problem anytimes??

I have limited access to other browsers besides IE, and I usually stay away from Linux. Sorry, can't tell you.... but if you want to test your firefox on linux client on my church site, go ahead and let me know.<

i've used Web Wiz Rich Text Editor
http://www.webwizguide.info/asp/default.asp really similar to your, but my opinion is that the rte i used is able to manage (without pay) the uploaded image or files

Do you have a link and test account I could look at? Do you run both forum code and HTML together or just HTML? I'm having problems with image tag parsing and I think it may be fine if I allowed HTML only.

Since I've had very little feedback and also due to work load in my real life job, I've had to suspend further development of this mod for a while. It's currently at a point where the basic functionality is there, but I need to work on some of the advanced features. I plan to resume it in January when my workload should lighten up a bit.
Also for the time being, the test accounts above have been temporarily suspended until I can resume work with this mod.

Good luck. I know the feeling as I've had full intentions to clean up and get a more polished version of the Subforums MOD working... only to get slammed with work. I'm going on vacation at the end of the month and hope to get something working then.
I said all that to say this: I am interested in your work, I just haven't had time to really dig into it. Hope things get better in Jan.<
