I am having problems setting up these forums on my website. I have put all of the files from the snitz forums in my Cgi-bin and have given them a chmod of 755. I am unable to login to the admin page or even view my classifieds. I use Red Hat Linux servers and I was wondering if these classifieds will work on Linux Servers. If you would like to take a look at how I have set everything up and tell me what I have done wrong, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!! Support@diecaststop.com

ASP files can't be run on a Unix based system unless you have some additional software called Chili!ASP (www.chilisoft.com). It's not free though.

So, if I have a Linux server, I cannot run a Snitz forum on it without Chili ASP? Doesn't that effectively exclude the majority of small web sites?

Well, this forum was derived from the ASP-Dev Forums which was written in ASP. We did this because there was a lack of a good ASP Forum out there, that was free. And ASP was developed by Microsoft, thus making ASP only to be run on a Windows based system.
If you don't have a Windows based system, there are other great forums out there for you to use. If you really want this forum, you have to buy the Chili!ASP software to be able to run the ASP files on your server. Or get a Windows based server.
Here area few of the other forums out there you can try: http://forum.snitz.com/competition.asp

Thanks for the information. My only regret is that I cannot use this great forum. Of the other options, which one would you reommend?

So spread the word to the Linux community to make an opensource asp for Linux!
Having spent some time in Linux newsgroups, I bet the response to such a post would be incessant 'NO WAY! MS is the evil empire'
I'd probably even consider Chili if it was reasonably priced, but when the choice is Chilisoft for one free Linux vs 2-3 retail copies of W2K with IIS5 included for the same money, I tend to pick the W2K option.
$0.02
