Some background: I've got a Win 2003/IIS 6 server on the intranet that is set to use "Integrated Windows Authentication", and "Enable Anonymous Access" is turned off.

For some strange reason I've been getting people here and there complaining about it prompting them for a username/password and not showing the content. Sometimes if they close the browser and try again it works fine. The only thing that ties all these reports together is that they seem to only get this error if they click on a link from an e-mail and the browser wasn't already open. (I'm still trying to teach about this neat new feature called "bookmarks", but some of these individuals need to start with more basic topics - like how to make a folder...)

Any thoughts as to why this is happening and what I can do about it?<

Although not exactly same situation, it may be the same underlying issue...<

Similar problem, but not quite. all *.thecompanyaddress.com/* addresses ( other than www.thecompanyaddress.com ) are treated as Intranet. The server is at training.thecompanyaddress.com

Thanks for the suggestion though. <

Does it happen to you as well? I'm wondering if it's browser related...<

I've been able to reproduce it, but not all the time. What makes it more interesting is I'm using IE7, the bulk of the hospital (and all but one of those reporting errors) use IE6, and the last individual has reported a similar problem using IE Tab in Fx.

I've only had one person imply that it was a consistent thing. I've not been able to consistently reproduce it either. Fun. <

It may as well be a browser issue. If a refresh sorts it, doesn't look like a server problem. Maybe check the cache settings of the browser.<

IE Tab just runs whichever version of IE they have installed within a tab, so it's the same issue.

I know. But I figured on the off chance that it would matter, I'd mention it. It would be the one time that it matters that I don't add that little fact. <
